Round two of the dating realm…

Okay, now that it’s been 4 years since I have been single and two years since the divorce was final I decided maybe it might be time to tiptoe back online and see if there are some nice guys out there. I struck out on eharmony and match. (Check out my post on catfishers – they are out there and it’s sobering.) This time I went to a site that a dear friend recommended.

So, on January 1 – yes – a new year’s goal is to have fun and meet good people – I signed up for a six-month membership on a site that is supposed to be for “mature” singles. Whatever mature means. I was very clear in my profile I am looking for men between 55 – 65 and in the L.A. area.

The first “like” I received was…get this…from a 19 year old. 19!!?? Seriously!! EEUUWW. That is creepy and almost cause for arrest. I don’t want “cougar” on my resume. I don’t want to change my name to “Mrs. Robinson.” (Side note – several friends have assumed I am going back to my maiden name of Bowman. Nope. Not going to happen. Changing a name once is a chore – changing it back is not worth it – after almost 30 years of being a Gonzalez, there are way too many assets and documents in that name. I’ll keep it. You try starting over. Not the best use of my time.)

So, back to the dating world. Not going to reach out to someone who is too young to buy me a drink. He wanted to meet an older woman who could help him “broaden his experiences.” Whatever that means. Ick. He probably wouldn’t get the Robinson reference. Actually, I never did watch that movie. Maybe I should on my next dateless Saturday night.

“Like” #2 was a bit better. At least he was 25 and able to vote and buy booze and rent a car. ‘Nuff said. Next?

And then there were a whole bunch of guys from GA. Now, granted, I just came back from a lovely vacation to the South, including Georgia. But not sure I want to invest time or energy in a long distance relationship. Although Zoom does work. And why do GA guys need to troll for women on the other side of the country?

Anyway, I am open to meeting nice guys and if any of you friends know someone let me know. At the least, this is fun blog fodder.
