The email arrived on New Year’s Eve. A high school friend was terminally ill. The diagnosis was two short months earlier. The prognosis was bleak. She passed away the next day. It was a shock. Although now that we are in our early 60s and immortality is no longer a given, it is still unsettling… Continue reading A Bittersweet Reunion

Round 3 of the dating dance…Run? Grin and Bear it? Find the local nunnery?
I continue to tiptoe on the dating sites and right now I’m playing on Ourtime
Skunk 1 – Harley 0
If you grew up in the 1960s you might remember Pepe Le Pew, that amorous but smelly Looney Tunes skunk who was lovable but not really respected by his victims - I think mostly a cat? - who tried to avoid his passion, and yes, his odor.
When that disaster hits…
I have an accountability buddy whom I have been talking with every week for the past 28 years. (Wow!). We review our lists of goals and plans and try to cross stuff off our lists but mostly we catch up on each others' lives.

Brookgreen Gardens – Myrtle Beach, SC

When travel plans are sabotaged…
One of my passions is travel. If I ever win the lottery, I won’t spend it on fast cars or mansions or designer clothes (well, maybe one outfit and a slightly bigger house and a car that is newer than my 17-year-old SUV) – just first class tickets on airplanes and a full itinerary without running up a credit card balance.
MindTravel
One day, one of our members said that she was going to attend “MindTravel” at the local beach and was anyone interested? Hmm…Mind Travel…? What is that? Meditation? Mental exercises? Slide shows of someone else’s vacation? Tasty mushrooms and an out of body experience?
